De Danú is Toulouse’s newest and largest Irish bar, situated only a short distance from the centre of Toulouse. Located in the epicentre of French rugby and with Stade Toulousain’s Trevor Brennan on the crew, De Danú has already earned a reputation as the primary sporting bar in Toulouse. Coupled with 4 different screens in 3 different indoor areas and 1 outdoor sections, if your sport is on the television, you can assured it’ll be on ours!

What’s in a name?
The Celtic Goddess Danu is most commonly known as the mother Goddess of the Tuatha Dé Danann (‘the people of Danu’). According to various versions of Irish mythology, she is also known as an Earth goddess, Fertility Goddess and Goddess of Rivers (e.g. River Danube). While the history of Danu varies between cultures, Danu is generally associated with birth, beginnings, generations and fertility (?!).

To the Celts and the Irish however, Danu is remembered as the mother and creator of Ireland, hence the well-known reference to the Irish people as the ‘Tuatha Dé Danann’.

As we wanted a name that encompassed as many possible unique elements and aspects of Ireland, we settled for ‘De Danu’; which translates from French as ‘Of Danu’.

To get to know us a little better, just drop in any time. Here’s a few basics to help you along.
